Q：What kind of role did your company aim to fulfill when you started your journey in Singapore?

Our journey in Singapore began in November 1958 through a milestone capital investment in a terminal company established by Hong Leong Co. (now Hong Leong Asia), which served as our dedicated local sales agency at the time.For nearly 70 years since that foundational step, driven by a deep desire to contribute to the nation’s growth, we have maintained an uninterrupted supply of high-quality Japanese cement to the Singapore market through this terminal infrastructure. Walking alongside this nation through its eras of rapid, historic transformation remains a profound source of pride for our organization.

Q：What core beliefs, commitments, and passions do you value most in your daily operations?

The enduring relationship we share with our joint venture partner, Hong Leong Asia, forms the absolute cornerstone of our operations in Singapore. A primary testament to this seamless synergy is the successful co-development of TAIHEIYO GREEN CEMENT. This specialized product was brought to life through close collaboration to satisfy the rigorous quality requirements and specific engineering needs of Singaporean clients—such as mitigating thermal cracking in large-scale structures—while successfully securing the prestigious Green Label certification for eco-friendly building materials. Grounded firmly in this partnership, we continue to embrace new frontiers to generate fresh value, contributing directly to a superior, more sustainable urban environment for Singapore.

The Road Ahead

Q：How do you envision growing alongside Singapore, and in what ways do you hope to keep contributing to the nation?

Throughout our history, we have proudly supported Singapore’s spectacular rise by supplying foundational cement and concrete alongside Hong Leong Asia for critical national infrastructure—including Changi Airport and the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network—as well as globally iconic architectural marvels like Marina Bay Sands. Moving forward, we intend to leverage this deeply cultivated partnership to support the next generation of national-scale development projects. By ensuring a highly stable, resilient, and reliable supply of construction materials, we aim to remain a steadfast pillar for Singapore’s sustainable growth and the continuous creation of societal value.

What I Love About Singapore!

Q：What elements of Singapore’s culture or urban lifestyle do you find truly wonderful and inspiring?

I find charm in the coexistence of diverse cultures that defines the daily life here, beautifully illustrated by the four languages on the MRT annoucement and the incredible tapestry of flavors found across local hawker centers. Furthermore, I am deeply moved by the warm, caring, and supportive nature of the people I interact with every day—including our joint venture partners and our dedicated local staff—who make living and working in this extraordinary country an absolute privilege.
