Beyond “Insurance”: Redesigning Finance Through Digital Innovation-Kenji Yoneda(Singlife, Senior Business Liaison)
The Beginning in Singapore

Q:What was the defining moment or event that shaped the company’s current culture and values?
When we made our initial investment, Singlife was still an ambitious startup on a mission to reshape insurance through technology—making it simple, accessible, and empowering. Following its landmark acquisition of Aviva, Singlife joined the ranks of the industry’s major players. Today, as a next-generation financial brand that seamlessly blends the trusted reliability of legacy life insurers with the agility of insurtech, the company has evolved to redesign the entire financial experience, using insurance as its ultimate launchpad.
Core Strengths
Q:What unique personalities make up your team, and how would you describe the day-to-day dynamic of your workplace?
A defining strength of our organization is that many of our leaders come from diverse industries outside of insurance. Because they are unburdened by conventional sector norms, they naturally challenge the status quo, bringing fresh perspectives to innovative initiatives. The talent supporting them is equally impressive—exceptionally professional and highly productive. Furthermore, the growth curve for individuals identified as future leaders is remarkably steep, demonstrating an incredible pace of professional development.
The Road Ahead
Q:What is your vision for the future growth and evolution of your organization and team?
Our vision extends far beyond securing a leading position within Singapore; we aim to deploy our business model across neighboring Asian markets, cementing our position as a premier regional hub. Furthermore, our investment in Singlife carried a deeper strategic intent—to embed this ambitious, innovative organizational DNA into our parent group in Japan, catalyzing a fundamental corporate transformation. Today, the mantra to “learn from Singapore, learn from Singlife” resonates strongly within our Japanese operations. Moving forward, we intend to deepen this integration and continue inspiring one another through healthy competition, ultimately evolving into an indispensable institution in each of our respective markets.
What I Love About Singapore!
Q:What elements of Singapore’s culture or urban lifestyle do you find truly wonderful and inspiring?
What I truly appreciate about Singapore—and our organization here—is that as a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society, diversity is simply the norm. Having a unique background is expected, creating an innate inclusivity that prevents us from ever feeling like outsiders, despite being foreigners. This acceptance extends to the language as well; Singapore celebrates diverse forms of English, liberating us from the pressure of perfection and allowing everyone to communicate with absolute confidence.
