Building Trust, Connecting the City and Its People ―Yoshikawa Saori(Mitsubishi Estate Asia, Corporate Administrative Manager)

The Turning Point: Finding My Place
Q:What was your first impression/shock when you arrived in Singapore? Was there a defining moment through your work where you started to see Singapore not just as a place, but as “your own story”?
After graduating, I had an international marriage and moved to Singapore. Starting a job in a new country with limited English was tough. But with the help of those around me, I worked hard step by step and found my place. Now, my colleagues say “Ask Saori,” and I am glad to be someone they can trust.
The Ability to See the Big Picture and Find Balance
Q:What is your ultimate focus or unique strength in your current activities? What are the core values and passion driving that dedication?
Having lived in Singapore for 22 years, I now serve as the Corporate Administrative Manager at Mitsubishi Estate Asia. Managing tasks with varying levels of complexity, volume, and urgency require daily oversight, thorough verification, and careful coordination. In this environment, I consider my core strength to be the ability to see the big picture and make balanced judgments, leveraging my experience while understanding the cultural and operational differences between Japan and Singapore. Above all, I deeply value approaching my work with integrity, never forgetting that my success is built on the support of others, and always respecting those relationships.
A Quiet Source of Support
Q:How do you personally wish to contribute to and shape the relationship between Singapore and Japan moving forward?
I have been incredibly blessed with support not only in the workplace but also from my family, friends, and the local community.
I feel I have received more help than I can ever fully repay. While I may not possess extraordinary power alone, I can approach each person I encounter with sincerity and build trust step by step. Through this approach, I hope to be someone who quietly yet surely supports the trust and mutual understanding between Japan and Singapore. I want to continue fulfilling this role so that people will keep saying “Ask Saori” in both my professional and daily life.
A City Embracing Warm Open-Mindedness
Q:What elements of Singapore’s culture or urban lifestyle do you find truly wonderful and inspiring?
I feel Singapore’s true charm lies in its open-mindedness and generosity in accepting differences in culture, language, and customs. Mutual respect built on a foundation of diversity is deeply rooted in the city’s identity, and I believe this has always been its most timeless and wonderful quality.
