Serving the People of Singapore Through Innovation and Craftsmanship-MURAKAMI Satoshi(Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., Senior Manager, Robot Division)

The Beginning in Singapore
Q:What kind of role did your company aim to fulfill when you started your journey in Singapore?
Our corporate journey in Singapore began with our maritime and shipping equipment businesses, which naturally aligned with the strategic location of this vibrant island nation. By the 1980s, we were given the privilege of contributing directly to the modernization of Singapore’s urban landscape. We were trusted to deliver the early MRT subway cars as well as the underground tunnel boring machines that sculpted the island’s subterranean transit networks. Having played a part in constructing the literal lifelines of Singaporean society remains a foundational source of pride and responsibility for us today.
Core Strengths
Q:What core beliefs, commitments, and passions do you value most in your daily operations?
Today, our team handles the critical after-sales service for Medicaroid’s hinotori™ Surgical Robot System. Navigating a complex medical ecosystem with diverse stakeholders requires immense care; my central focus is always to ensure we deliver value that exceeds the expectations of both patients and medical professionals. To achieve this, I take the initiative to design and refine collaborative business frameworks, smoothly bringing different parties together to build a strong consensus. I believe our team’s definitive strength lies in this proactive mindset—combining agility, a readiness to embrace challenges, and a deep-rooted commitment to service excellence.
The Road Ahead
Q:How do you envision growing alongside Singapore, and in what ways do you hope to keep contributing to the nation?
As Singapore steps into the future, the Economic Development Board (EDB) has mapped out several high-growth sectors crucial for the nation’s next chapter. We aim to grow hand-in-hand with the country, providing multi-faceted technological solutions to support these strategic national goals.Particularly within the semiconductor and MedTech fields, it is vital that we fully leverage Kawasaki’s strengths. This means delivering not just our advanced robotics and automation systems, but also our consultative insights and flawless, long-term after-sales service, ensuring we remain a partner Singapore can consistently depend on.
What I Love About Singapore!
Q:What elements of Singapore’s culture or urban lifestyle do you find truly wonderful and inspiring?
What moves me most about daily life here is the seamless blend of different cultures, traditions, and faiths. Living in such an open environment provides constant moments of learning and fresh perspective. These daily interactions have become a beautiful mirror for me, offering a valuable opportunity to reflect deeply on my own values, and the unique characteristics of my Japanese heritage.
